The Anassa resort hotel is a veritable palace of marble, with classic interiors filled with wonderful Roman Mosaics and beautiful Venetian frescoes all reflecting the history of Cyprus. In fact Anassa means ‘Queen’ in classical Greek, and the name really suits this stately resort with its Byzantine style villas and hotel all set in wonderfully peaceful gardens with cool courtyards.

When you stay here, you can choose between a villa with panoramic sea views, a simple room, or a romantic suite with its own plunge pool or whirl pool on a terrace looking out towards the sea. The traditional Byzantine architecture here makes this resort really special, and complete privacy has been designed in carefully. The facilities here are second to none, and you will have the beach, swimming pool, gymnasium, spa and much more all at your fingertips here. The Anassa’s spa ‘The Thalassa’ offers a wide variety of treatments including enjoying a Mediterranean massage treatment right on the beach. Sailing lessons are on offer, and there are also a number of boats available for private hire, or as a charter with a skipper, and the waters locally make ideal sailing locations.
Fine dining is offered in four very unique restaurants in the complex.

There’s the Basiliko which is the hotels signature restaurant offering gourmet cuisine, set in a stone cavern this restaurant is superbly cool and makes for a wonderful dining experience. The Helios offers Mediterranean gastronomy and meals can be enjoyed inside, or alfresco on the outdoor terrace. The Amphora is the place if you want to try some of the local produce as it offers informal dining and international cuisine, and the Pelagos at the poolside offers a lava stone grill so that all the cooking takes place right there in front of you. This is the most informal of the four options.

For families the Anassa offers a pre-order service called ‘Baby go lightly’ where you can order items such as cots, car seats, push chairs and baby bath before you travel so you know everything will be ready when you arrive. There is a crèche for children of 6mths up to 3 years old, and the Smiling Dolphin Club has supervised playrooms, and organises activities such as tennis, water skiing and scuba-diving lessons for 4-12 year olds.

If you’re looking to get married, you could consider the Ayia Athanassia chapel in the heart of the Anassa’s Byzantine village square. Bordered paths lead to the door and are filled with scarlet bougainvillaea and sweet smelling lavender, and it’s the perfect backdrop for your dream wedding. Follow the service with a candle lit meal for two, or a gala banquet for one hundred or more guests in the hotel, with excellent cuisine and attentive yet discreet service.

Whether you choose to stay in a villa or hotel suite, with so many wonderful things to do, all set in these beautiful surroundings this will be a holiday you’ll remember for a long time.
